Community Caregivers of Greater Derry
Community Caregivers of Greater Derry was formed in 1988 by a group of concerned citizens who saw a need among elderly and disabled residents for practical assistance and support that would enable them to stay in their own homes, in safety and with dignity, for as long as possible. The individuals we serve may have no family members who live nearby who can help, or may be unable to safely drive or do certain tasks for themselves. Our services foster independence with dignity, while at the same time providing meaningful volunteer opportunities and creating a more caring community. Caregivers covers the towns of Chester, Danville, Derry, Hampstead, Londonderry, Sandown and Windham.
We currently offer three complementary programs: Our Volunteer Care-Giving Program provides free in-home and transportation assistance to vulnerable elderly and disabled individuals from seven southern New Hampshire communities. Our Loaner’s Closet for Durable Medical Equipment loans out wheel chairs, walkers, commodes, bath seats, etc. to anyone in NH who needs it for as long as they need it, free of charge. Finally, Project Upkeep is a special set of "handyman" volunteers that make handicap improvements and repairs to our low-income clients' homes.
