Food Delivery Options
Local Meal Delivery Options (not meal kits, fully prepared meals to reheat)
These are meals that are fully prepared, you simply need to reheat them (typically in the microwave). These are definitely a big step up from the frozen meals you buy at the grocery store and their higher prices reflect that.
There are ones like Georgie and Tom’s where they have meals for two, which means you could have leftovers for the next meal. This may be more cost effective for you, depending on what you order.
Grocery Delivery (or Pick Up) Options
There are many choices out there for grocery delivery. These stores allow you to use their app to place an order, which is then delivered right to your door at the time you request. Some of these companies charge a delivery fee, some don’t - but they are almost always more expensive than going to the store yourself to purchase groceries.
Also, these are stores where you can place an order for your groceries ahead of time, choose a reserved time, arrive to the store and park in a special designated area for grocery pick up. You then call a special phone number (which is both in the email confirmation as well as usually right near the parking area) and they will bring your groceries out to your car and put them in for you.
- Shaws Fresh Pass. This program charges $12.99/month (or $99/year) but entitles you to benefits such as unlimited deliveries with orders less than $30 (many stores charge more to deliver smaller orders). Alternatively you don’t have to be a part of their Fresh Pass program and instead pay a $5.99 delivery fee and a $35 minimum purchase.
- Hannaford To Go. You can either have your online order ready for pickup at your local Hannaford or you can have your order delivered to your door. There is free pickup for orders over $125, otherwise there is a $1.99 fee for pickup orders under $125.
- Walmart Grocery. Walmart+ is offering free delivery on groceries (and all other orders), no matter how small the order. They charge $12.95/month (or $98/year) for this service. However, you do not need to have Walmart+ and instead can simply place your order online and pickup there for free (if the order is over $50, there is a small fee for smaller orders).
Lastly, remember that you can also order my non-perishable and personal care items from Amazon Prime Everyday Essentials. Just keep in mind that they may not come as quickly as you need.
