Garden Tour Volunteering Opportunities

Event volunteers are the heart and soul of a successful fundraiser.

As this is our first time organizing a garden tour, we have many ways you can help us to make it an excellent experience.

Below is a list of specific volunteer opportunities and descriptions of each. Press the plus sign to expand the field to read more about each role and see the shifts needed and contact information to sign up.

Volunteer Opportunities

Docents
  • Role: Docents act as knowledgeable guides, walking visitors through the gardens and sharing interesting facts. Their role is to educate and engage, making the experience memorable for attendees.
  • Interpersonal Interaction: Your friendly demeanor and ability to connect with people makes you stand out. You will ensure everyone feels welcome.
  • Time Commitment: Docents are needed for three-hour shifts: 9AM-12PM or 12-3PM on either Saturday, 7/12 or Sunday, 7/13.

We promise it will be fun and rewarding!  You will get a chance to share your passion for gardening, meet like-minded people and be part of a meaningful event.

Please email Tricia Adams drives@comcaregivers.org or call her at (603)432-0877 x 2 to sign up.

Community Engagement Ambassadors

Want to help but need something you can do on your own schedule?  Join our "ambassadors” by distributing flyers, posters and other promotional materials in your local communities.

Community engagement volunteers are needed in all surrounding towns.  You would need to pick up marketing items at our downtown Derry office when you are notified and hang up your allotted amount in your area as well as email us a list of locations for our records.  We’d also ask for your help sharing posts on social media and perhaps making follow-up calls to local garden clubs to ensure they’re aware of the event and answer any questions they may have.

Complimentary tickets will be provided for you and a guest as a thank you.

Please email Tricia Adams drives@comcaregivers.org or call her at (603)432-0877 x 2 to sign up.

Pre-Event Volunteers

These large events have many different options to help make ours a success!  Check this list and see if any of these opportunities may be a good fit for you:

  • Pick up raffle baskets/display trays/tables/etc. the week before the event.
  • Finish labeling and organizing raffle baskets with formatted signage.
  • Pick up refreshment ingredients in the week before the event.
  • Cut fruit/prepare garnishes for beverages.
  • Pick up desserts the day before the event and deliver them to the event site.
  • Load supplies on 7/11 at CCGD and bring them to the event site.

Complimentary tickets will be provided for you and a guest as a thank you.

Event Volunteers

We will need several volunteers each day to staff the event.  Event Volunteers are needed for three-hour shifts (unless it states otherwise): 9 AM-12 PM or 12-3 PM on either Saturday, 7/12, or Sunday, 7/13.

  • Set up at 7:45AM on either Saturday, 7/12, or Sunday, 7/13: setting up the tables, tents, chairs, linens, extension cords, musician hub, artist hub, etc.
  • Vendor/Musician/Artist Concierge: Help unload their vehicle, watch their items while they park their car, help them set up, and check in with them routinely to see if they need a break, refreshments, or food.  Help them pack up at the end of the day.
  • Raffle Volunteers: Unload baskets, set up tables/linens/flowers throughout the property, distribute baskets and collection jars on the tables.  Set up the main selling table and P.O.S. system.  One person can man the table and switch off with the other to wander the garden to sell raffle tickets.
  • Beverage and Dessert Volunteers: Unload beverage ingredients/supplies or desserts (that were not brought over the day before), set up tables/linens/ingredients/supplies/displays/flowers to be ready for the beverages starting at 9AM and the desserts starting at 10:30AM.  Replenish the bar or dessert tables as needed and make sure the business that is being highlighted has its contact info displayed.
  • Floater: The volunteer can do anything from clean/replenish restrooms to empty trash cans, fill in for other volunteers who need a break.  Generally, be available for anything that comes up where help is needed.
  • Traffic Volunteers: After you put out the directional signs at the end of the surrounding streets and main byways, your job will be to direct traffic, especially if someone needs help backing out.  Also, they will make sure people are not blocking anyone’s driveway or mailbox.
